Ombre Wand – Unverhofft kommt oft
Today I'm going to tell you how we got to our ombre wall. We had actually planned something else for this wall, but it is well known that not everything always goes according to plan. Life is full of surprises. In any case, we are very satisfied with the wall, even if it arose out of an emergency.
The original plan was to paint the wall without wallpaper with full color thinned with water. So the wall should get some of the concrete look and that in ocher green. It also looked pretty good for a while until I noticed the spots that hadn't taken on any color. These were the places that were subsequently repaired. I'm actually a fan of it when some things look imperfect, etc. but this didn't work at all. So plan B was needed.
Plan B - Ombre wall
I did not want to plaster the whole wall again and painting it completely with a dispersion paint was also out of the question. Since the stains were only in the upper area of the wall, I also had the idea to make an ombre wall out of them. So paint the top with the emulsion paint, so the stains would also disappear, since the normal wall paint covers better.
Our approach:
First the solid color was diluted with water. I then applied this color mixture to the entire wall with a brush.
When the first layer of paint is dry, a wall paint in cream white was applied to the wall. Again with the brush and only up to half the wall.
Then a sponge board was moistened with water and the transition between the two colors was blurred. You have to wet the sponge board again and again. In my opinion, it is the most important step. If you take some time for this, you also have a smooth transition, which is extremely important for the ombre look.
Unfortunately, the color on the pictures does not come across as well. In fact, it actually looks greener.
Not really that difficult, and for the fact that we actually had to improvise, the wall has become really great. And we are already PLANNING a second wall using the same technology. Let's see if it works so well if it's planned ...
Have a nice day and see you soon
