Wow, so many days have passed since my last blog post. How the time flies! In good weather, you logically do other things and don't spend as much time in front of the screen. For example, I recently rediscovered cycling for myself. As a child I used to ride my bike a lot. But then I took a long break, more precisely the break lasted for over 20 years. So you can imagine that the first time was a shaky affair. In the meantime you can let me and my bike back on the road ... But of course only with a helmet. And now all that's missing is a cool retro bike with a wicker basket. Total cliché, I know but I like it!
I also started yoga and I can only recommend it to you. Yoga really gives me a lot and it is extremely good for me, not just physically but head-wise. But enough of me now, because today is about the wooden bench, which is quite popular with all of you.
Every time I post a new picture from our hallway, I am asked about our wooden bench. Most of the time you want to know where I got it from, etc. Many were also right in their assumption that it was built itself. You know me now too, right?
I have always loved wooden benches, especially those that look old and totally “worn out”. Well, beauty is known to be in the eye of the beholder ... Actually, it wasn't really planned that we would build a wooden bench ourselves. Somehow it just happened because we still had an old building board. My husband conjured up a (for me) beautiful wooden bench from this old building plank.
Build a wooden bench yourself
What we used:
- 1 old building board
- Wood screws
- 4 old wooden boards (optional)
Here's how we built it:
- First we cut 3 parts (seat part and legs) from the construction board. The seat part is approx. 140 cm long and the legs are approx. 33 cm high. The seat height is approx. 38 cm.
- Then the 3 parts were screwed together. Please pre-drill holes for the screws so that the wood does not tear.
- That’s actually it. Super easy, isn't it? The small boards on the inside had to be with us because the wood (because old) had a crack. So you don't really need them.
Note: We are not skilled craftsmen or something, we just like to do a lot. We also didn't want to make it a complicated thing. The bench should be nice and relatively stable. And we did it too. You can sit on it and put on your shoes without fear of it breaking apart. But I wouldn't dance on it or anything. A professional would certainly have built it completely differently, but the wooden bench is perfect for our needs! If your future wooden bench is going to be used a lot, I would definitely recommend other building instructions. You know, security comes first.
And now I can make one of you happy ... (I would have loved to make everyone happy)
Dear Maike Karen , I congratulate you on your win and wish you a lot of fun with it. You will soon receive an email with the details from me.
That’s it for today. I hope to see you again soon!
See you soon,
